Editor Tools: hover your mouse over the tool icons
to display a "tool tip". This will tell you what the tool
does. The toolbar uses standard icons. You should be familiar with them
if you use a word processor like Microsoft Word. In addition to standard
tool icons, you have a horizontal ruled line tool Using the hyperlink tool: This tool lets you create web links to web sites. To use it, first type in the web address of the web site you want to link to. Then highlight the text you want to serve as the link. Click the "ADD" button. Good hyperlink text briefly describes the destination so the reader knows where he is going. Avoid hyperlinking long phrases or sentences. Adding Pictures: To add a picture to an eWrite project, click on the research window link while in the editor to open a second browser window. Use the links and search tools provided to find pictures and then simply drag and drop the picture from that window into your story or report. This will work as long as the picture in on a web page. Important Notes: Always save your work by clicking
on the The print icon does not actually start your printer. It takes you to a printer friendly version of your writing so you can print. View HTML and WSIWYG:You can choose to look at the HTML code you are creating on the page. If you know some HTML, you can make custom changes, otherwise use the WSIWYG ( What You See Is What You Get) view. Sending Comments to your teacher: You may want to add comments to your work to send to your teacher. You can do so by placing your comments in parenthesis and beginning with "Note to Teacher:". You can erase comments later, before your teacher publishes your work. Back Button Issues: You cannot use the browser's back button to go back to your list of work. Use the menu instead. Macintosh Users: A PC is highly recommended for eWrite, but a Macintosh editor is included. The Mac editor is automatically chosen for you if you are on a Macintosh. If you plan to use a Macintosh, please see your teacher for further instructions. |
