John Chamberlain
Biography
John chamberlain was born April 16, 1927 in Rochester Indiana. He spent most of his early life in Chicago. John Chamberlain was determined to become an artist. He loved to do art at a young age. When he was little he had a great time sculpting and playing with clay. John studied sculpture back at the Black Mountain College. He got into the Independent study program, Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.
Style
He started his career in 1950s. In 1959 he was working completely with the junk medium. He loves to do pop art. When John was young he made "Bijou" in 1961, "Hatband" in 1960, and "Big E" in 1962. Later, John made a sculpture called "Kiss" in 1979.
In 1990 he started the Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters in New York. At that time he began creating flat, welded sculpture, influenced by the work of fabulous David Smith. In 1997 John received of The National Arts Club Artists Award in New York. In 1997 he began to use scrap parts from automobiles. He is famous for making a sculpture out of an old rusty car into a wonderful masterpiece!!! How cool is that!!!

He ceated a sculpture called "Maximum Betty" in 2006. One of his later works was "Licensed Men Who Pause" in 2008. John now lives and works in Florda.John’s work has been in a lot of museums a couple are Museum of Modern Art Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden Boca Raton Museum of Art. Some of his works were, "Green Heart" (1958) "Tide-Race" (1962) "The Water Castle" (1964) "A Rope of Vines" (1965) "Alun Lewis and the Making of the Caseg Broadsheets" (1969), and "Poems with Drawings" (1969)
