Types of Green Cars
There are eight diffrent types of cars-- Hybrid, Electric, Ethanol, Hydrogen, Natural Gas, Plug-ins, Biodiesel, and air powered. Hybrids combine two or more different propulsion systems, typically a gasoline engine and one or more electric drive motors. Electric cars make zero emissions since they’re propelled by electric vehicle charging stations and don't use gas. Natural gas is the cleanest-burning fossil fuel, it is being used by an increasing number of medium-and heavy-duty commercial vehicles like garbage trucks and delivery vans. The only factory-produced Natural gas car made today in the U.S. is Honda’s Civic GX.
The first eletric car ever made was made in 1902. It was called Wood's Eletric Phaeton. It could go 14 miles per hour and travel 18 miles. In 1916, Wood created a hybrid, adding a gas engine.
New Green Cars
The new Chevy Volt will come out in November 2010. The Volt can run on electric energy for 40 miles. Once you go over 40 miles it runs on gas. You plug it in at night then you can drive. The Volt charges in 10 hours. You can also buy the 240V outlet which charges it in 4 hours. It will run efficiently without being plugged in for days, weeks or even months. The average American pays less than 12 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity. If the average American drives less than 40 miles, it will cost about $1.50 a day for electricity. Thats about the same annual cost as running a common hosehold appliance. The Volt is great for the earth and your money.

The Tesla car is a cool looking green sports car.The Tesla can be driven across the United States. It is meant to be driven. You can drive on a senic costal drive or head up for the mountains. Their service can provide a helpful road trip.
