OPEN HOUSE
The artist and Composers sections are updated with pictures, student wordles and pop art images. Students primarily edited the articles and I made a few final fixes.
Next year, 5th graders will ask and answer questions online and add new contributions to the project.
I hope to add some experts and/or students from another school to contribute information. 4th grade will begin a new wiki project. Possible future additions may include timelines and interactive Google maps. The objective is to create a more in-depth, quality project by working together and presenting information in multiple ways to facilitate understanding.
To Students
Welcome to
My Learningcenter Wiki!
Here students can work together online. No one owns an article; you contribute to each other's work, and by doing so, create a better result. Together we know more than any one of us. Our learning process is project-based and collaborative; so our site will be in a rough draft state for some time while students ask questions, work with experts and edit articles. When students encounter difficulty in the project, we use that as an opportunity for questions and learning. Unlike typical student projects, our work here represents a learning process more so than a published product.
NOTES
- To copy/paste from Microsoft Word, first "SAVE AS..." a plain text document. This will remove all of the Word formatting. Then open the new text file and copy the text. Paste into the Wiki Page. Now use the Wiki formatting tools to format your work.
- To spell check, use ieSpell. It is installed in the lab. Go to the Internet toolbar and select "Tools". Select "ieSpell" and begin your spell check.
- If your artist or composer is contemporary (a living artist), try to locate his or her email address and save it with your notes. We can invite your artist to participate in our project!
