A. This is not the right answer, but a very good choice. Gold dust flew everywhere in San Francisco. It sometimes leaked out of miners' pouches or spilled when they paid for goods with pinches of gold. Some children actually made $5.00 a day panning the dirt in front of the United States Hotel! One miner made over $50.00 dollars in one day panning the dirt in front of Mr. Howard's store on Montgomery Street. Some store owners saved the dust they swept from the floor of their stores. Then they would pan it for gold dust!
