B. Cats were usually welcomed by a ship's crew because cats killed the unwanted rodents on board. Some sailors even took them in as pets. They also believed that cats brought good luck. A Mexican ship delivered a cargo of cats to San Francisco to exterminate a horde of rats that were eating food stored in tents and warehouses. |
